1896:  An Inside Look at Life in the Tenements of the Smith Family (historical fiction)


Benny, Rose, Maggie, and Johnny Smith all live in Gotham Court (Cherry Street) in 1896.  Benny is an on and off plasterer, Rose is a at-home laboroer, Maggie, her daughter, is also an at-home laborer and Johnny, her son, is a street kid involved in one of the gangs of the slums.  The individual stories shed light on their experiences in the slums. click here
